Appreciating Where You're At


 I like to take these walks in my neighborhood.I like to look up at the windows of the houses and wonder what kind of people live there. Most of the time I leave thinking, "Man, if I had that house I would do this..." I see houses where sheets are haphazardly thrown up as curtains or there is junk all over the yard.I just sat there judging them about and then today it dawned on me, "Maybe people just don't put value in that." It made me think about how often I don't put value in the place that I am at,
spiritually speaking that is.


How often do we spend more time grumbling about what we don't have than thanking Him for what we do?


How often do we really take time to appreciate where we are in our walk with the Lord?

How often to we spend waiting for some grand thing to happen and then we will really be living out our calling?


Sometimes we can spend so much time worried about what we lack in that season, we forget to see God's goodness and strength to get us through.

Paul puts it like this in Philippians 4:11-13:   
"...for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.I can do all this through him who gives me strength."

Sometimes, its a matter of being so worried about the future you forget about the present.

In Matthew 6:34 it says:  
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

Sometimes we worry so much about our own goals for what God is going to do, we miss what He is doing right now. 

Oswald Chambers puts it like this in My Utmost For His Highest:

"What is my vision of God’s purpose for me? Whatever it may be, His purpose is for me to depend on Him and on His power now. If I can stay calm, faithful, and unconfused while in the middle of the turmoil of life, the goal of the purpose of God is being accomplished in me. God is not working toward a particular finish— His purpose is the process itself.....It is the process, not the outcome, that is glorifying to God.
God’s training is for now, not later. His purpose is for this very minute, not for sometime in the future. We have nothing to do with what will follow our obedience, and we are wrong to concern ourselves with it. What people call preparation, God sees as the goal itself.
God’s purpose is to enable me to see that He can walk on the storms of my life right now. If we have a further goal in mind, we are not paying enough attention to the present time. However, if we realize that moment-by-moment obedience is the goal, then each moment as it comes is precious."

I chose to be content with what I have now. He give me all I need. I choose to consider only today's concerns. He decides if there is a tomorrow. I choose to be grateful for where I am now. Its the only place I want to be.

So Much to Say but I Can't Find the Words.

So a lot has happened in my life since last I wrote on this blog. Moving happened. I now reside in Bellevue Kentucky. I live in a wonderful community of ladies. I am learning a lot. I am growing a lot. I am thinking a lot....too much probably. I want to tell you things...stories about things that have happened. But I can't seem to find words. But know that I am good. Life is good. God is good. That's all for now.
